Post Stroke Physiotherapy Treatment

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the world.

In a stroke, the blood supply to the brain is disrupted, causing brain cells to die. Due to this, the affected part of the brain loses its function. There are mainly two types of strokes—cerebrovascular and intracerebral hemorrhagic strokes. Both cause parts of the brain not to function properly.

About one and a half million people suffer from stroke every year in the world. Besides death, many people suffer from various physical and mental problems. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the world. This number is increasing day by day.

After a stroke, quick treatment and various drugs can save a patient's life, but it may take a long time for his body to return to its normal function. Physiotherapy is started in this case. A physiotherapist's main goal is to diagnose post-stroke problems and restore normal body function. This requires proper physiotherapy. So if someone has a stroke, take them to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. Physiotherapy should be started after emergency treatment. Remember, the sooner physiotherapy can be started after a stroke, the more likely the patient will be able to return to work. Again wrong physiotherapy can cause harm to the patient. Currently, it is possible to bring back a stroke patient to a normal life through modern physiotherapy treatment.

Risk of stroke

High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol or fat, diabetes or polyuria, smoking, obesity, alcohol and tobacco consumption, family history etc. increase the risk of stroke. Stroke is generally more common in men aged 55 years or older.

To reduce the risk of stroke

A healthy lifestyle greatly reduces risk. Control high blood pressure, avoid smoking and alcohol, exercise regularly, eat more vegetables or fruits, eat less or no red meat, butter or ghee, reduce sodium in your diet, control blood cholesterol, control diabetes, says the American Stroke Association. It is possible to prevent stroke by maintaining, not taking excessive medication, keeping body weight under control, not worrying and always living in a peaceful environment.
