Summer health tips 2022

Stay healthy this summer

In nature, the cycle of seasons is monsoon season. In this country of six seasons, usually at this time, clouds and rain accumulate, and the heat of summer also decreases. But this time it is as if the rain is heavy, along with the movement of scattered clouds in the sky like autumn and winter and intense dry heat. Sicknesses are increasing in this extreme heat, cases of heatstroke are occurring.

When the body temperature exceeds 104-105 degrees Fahrenheit in extremely hot weather, it is called 'heatstroke' or 'sunstroke'. Those who do physical work in the hot sun during the day are at a higher risk of heatstroke.

Symptoms

Heatstroke is preceded by heat cramps or heat exhaustion. Heat cramps cause muscle pain, weakness and extreme thirst. The next step in heat exhaustion is rapid breathing, headache, dizziness, nausea, incoherent behavior etc.

Symptoms of heatstroke are:

Rapid rise in body temperature above 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Cessation of sweating.
• Skin becomes dry and red.
•Rapid breathing.
• Decreased blood pressure.
•Convulsions, lightheadedness, abnormal behavior, slurred speech, or even fainting may occur.

What to do if affected

•The patient should be moved quickly to a shaded area away from the sun.
What to do if you sweat excessively this summer
If you go out in the hot summer sun, you must sweat. Many people have had the experience of getting into embarrassing situations with their clothes drenched in excessive sweat. The problem of excessive sweating is called 'hyperhidrosis' in English. It can also be of two types.

Some parts of the body such as: palms of the hands and feet, armpits, the area between the two thighs and the area around the anus at the back, tip of the nose, forehead etc. can sweat. Emotionality and stress are the first and foremost causes. It can also be caused by some diseases of the nervous system.

The second type is full body sweating. Very hot, very humid environments, exercise and exertion can cause excessive sweating. But it can also be due to illness. For example: Sweating during fever. It can also be due to hormonal changes in the body. For example: diabetes, excess hormone secretion of the thyroid gland, pregnancy, post-menopause, nervous system diseases and various types of cancer.

A doctor should be consulted to know whether excessive sweating is due to any internal weakness, anxiety, thyroid and heart problems.

If sweating due to humid environment-

♦ Wear thin and cotton clothes
♦ Underarm hair should be kept clean
♦ Underwear or underwear should be changed regularly
♦ Bathe daily with antibacterial soap. Because sweat bacteria cause bad breath. Dry the body well after bathing. Then you can use antiperspirant spray
♦ Feet should be washed and dried before wearing shoes. Wear thin socks
♦ Consumption of salty foods, hot tea or coffee should be reduced. They increase heat in the body

There are also medications for excessive sweating. However, their use is very limited due to its side effects. In some cases, sleeping and sedative drugs also work to some extent. A doctor must be consulted before using these medicines.
